Cadweb Expands into India

October 2008

Cadweb has expanded its overseas activities into the Indian sub-continent. As part of this expansion Cadweb has been appointed to provide the Project Extranet Services for three major schemes: Kensville Golf Township: Crowne Plaza-Shapath V and Gulmohar Greens Golf & Country Club.

Kensville Golf Township

This is an 18-hole championship golf course at Kensville Golf & Country Club. It is part of a residential community, which will feature more than 800 villas. The total area, golf course and real estate combined, is a whopping 800 acres. Indigenously planned, the project is the brainchild of NRI Bhupender Mandalia of Millennium Park Holdings. Besides the clubhouse, which will have 60 luxury apartments and a spa, Kensville will have two convention centres and an Ayurvedic centre— all to be completed by 2009.

Sameer Sinha, director of Kensville Golf & Country Club, still remembers the farmhouse craze of the 1980s. “In those days, owning a farmhouse was a status symbol for those in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot and other cities. Today, with greater exposure to lifestyle products, more and more people are buying villas and plots in leisure-oriented community housing complexes that offer several recreational facilities,” he says.

This is the reason why his company set up Kensville Golf & Country Club at Dev Dholera, about 40 km from Ahmedabad. Spread over 800 acres, this golf housing project has plots and villas, surrounded by lush greenery. The developer planted about 50,000 trees and added lakes, including one spanning over 25 acres to the existing water bodies in the area. Organic fertilisers and other eco-friendly initiatives like water recycling and water harvesting were used to develop the area. “That’s probably why, even today, birdwatchers can spot over 50 species on a winter day at Kensville,” says Sinha.

Crowne Plaza-Shapath V

The project with a total built up area of 500,000 square feet is a proposed Hotel, Retail and Office block development in Ahmedabad. The hotel operator is the International hotel chain – Intercontinental Hotel Group and the hotel flag will be the Crowne Plaza brand. The façade incorporates Curtain wall, Composite curtain wall, Terrace pergola, Stone cladding and Shop front glazing. The architect has prepared a detailed design brief highlighting the various wall types and the preferred aesthetic look.

IHG’s Crowne Plaza brand is located in over 40 countries around the world and offers premium accommodation for business and leisure travellers. IHG is a leading global hotel player straddling seven brands with 5,72,000 rooms in 3,800 hotels across 100 countries. In India, IHG currently has 13 properties across three brands — InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn. Globally, IHG also has other brands like Holiday Inn Express, Indigo and Staybridge Suites.

Gulmohar Greens

This is a 70 acre golf and Leisure Club development.
Club facilities include:
Luxury cottages which are fully serviced. Complementing the residential accommodation are conference facilities. There are beautifully landscaped gardens, musical fountains, swimming pools, tennis courts, table tennis rooms, billiards, squash, badminton courts and a children’s park. There is a state of the art Health Club, yoga centre and spa. The club has restaurants that serve multi-cultural cuisines with, along with open air party plots and banquet facilities.

Cadweb

The use of a Project Extranet in the Indian Construction market is highly innovative. This leading edge technology has been successfully implemented by project management consultants Development2020 http://www.development2020.com

To Quote from Construction World - Indian Edition | September 2007 Issue: “Cadweb is a world leader in construction project extranet technology for all parties involved in the architecture, engineering and construction industry as well as for all stages of a project's lifecycle. The UK-based company has been working to improve the process of information exchange, retrieval and storage on construction projects since 1995.

In India, Cadweb has been appointed for the multi-million dollar Kensville Golf Township project promoted by non-resident Indians. Following its success on Kensville Golf Township, Cadweb.net has been appointed for two projects of the Savvy Group, one of Gujarat's leading developers. These are Shapath V (the first green skyscraper proposed in the state) and Gulmohar Greens Golf and Country Club. Cadweb.net, within a very short time, has been able to make considerable progress in India due to its robust architecture and legal admissibility worldwide, with the International standard ISO: 27001 accreditation (Information Security Management). This creates a very solid foundation for further expansion of our activities in this large, important and growing economy.”
