Why choose Cadweb.net?

  • The Cost Savings - Thanks to the audit trail and speed of transmission very large cost savings can be made, you can expect carriage and printing costs to half immediately. It is a well-known, ‘rule of thumb’ that the document production/exchange and management on a project cost approximately 0.5% - 1% of the total cost of the project. Most of this cost is saved if Cadweb.net is used to manage the project information.
  • It Improves Information Quality and Punctuality - Because of the transparency of Cadweb’s audit trail and that all information is stored and made visible centrally, in one searchable location; turnaround times and workflow durations are easier to meet. Also the right revisions of information get to the right people at the right time. It has been shown that this alone saves projects up to 5% of the outturn cost.
  • It’s great for providing Management Information - Cadweb makes it far easier to manage your information both within your own organisation and between the different parties involved in the design, procurement and construction of a project. Every event has its delivery recorded automatically so there is a complete ‘end to end’ audit trail of every exchange of information. All records are compiled into reports which can be exported into existing internal management reporting software, giving you a very powerful, real time management information tool.
  • It’s very Reliable – Cadweb is used in conjunction with email as your primary means of project communications, information storage and retrieval. The system has been designed as a highly resilient and scalable application for managing information and has been available 24/7, 365 days a year since 1997. System uptime has been consistently 99.99% or more every year since it went live in 1997 (That is less than 1 hour down time  per year or less than 20 minutes per year during working hours)
  • It’s very Secure – The system’s security provides you with a legally admissible off-site data warehouse upon which you can rely. Authority to see information is set by you and you can check whether files have been looked at by your chosen recipient(s). Thus every file has its own independent and unique security profile which is determined by you. The system has been independently audited by the British Standards Institute (BSI) and accredited to ISO 27001 Information Security Management since 2004.One if the first systems to gain this certification in the world.
  • It’s very Flexible - Anyone with a PC and access to the internet can use Cadweb. There is no need to download and install any software. The system is designed using an ‘Information Push’ model (like email) rather than the ‘Information Pull’ model (like an FTP folder structure with security permissions set by an administrator). This means that it is far easier to use being intuitive and familiar with anyone who uses email and it is far more flexible as each user sets their ‘permissions’ per file, automatically when selecting who they send the file(s) to.
  • It’s very Fast - By using Cadweb you can save time. Vital communications will now take you minutes instead of days. As CAD files are large the system automatically compresses them, dramatically increasing the speed of transmission, by up to 6 times. As file size gets bigger and bigger, corporate IT infrastructures get more congested with large rendered files or 3/4/5D BIM models. Cadweb can help alleviate the bottlenecks by minimizing the times a file gets exchanged and also minimizing the size of the file that actually gets transmitted. This helps make corporate IT budgets stretch further as more information can be exchanged and managed over existing hardware.

Within the project environment the user can send files or messages, collect them or find any information that they have sent or received in the past.

All information in the project is described in a construction industry standard way - designed to suit the contractual obligations of all project team members.

  • Messages have a sender, one or more recipients and a subject.
  • Drawings and documents have a title, a number, a revision and what packages it belongs to.
  • For every document or drawing there is an "Issue Record" which shows who sent it, when, why it was sent, who to, when they got it and what they have done with it.
  • All records and the audit trail of each transaction are certified to the international Standard (ISO 27001) Information Security Management. This has the effect of allowing them to be used for contractual purposes - eliminating the need to follow everything up and store duplicate paper copies.
