Cadweb.net has been used by Prupim for more than 10 years
GreenPark
Arndale Centre Manchester
Birmingham Wholesale Markets

With over £15 billion of assets under management in over 800 properties and approximately 4,500 property occupiers Prupim is one of the largest property owners/ managers and developers in the UK. Prupim is unique among its UK competitors in that it offers a fully integrated real estate investment management service that includes fund management, asset management and property management services. Prupim first trialed Cadweb in 1998 on the initial phase of its giant 2,000,000 FT2 business park, GreenPark in Reading.

“During construction of the first two phases, Cadweb was an important tool in our drive to improve efficiency and communications among the members of the project team. We want to continue those improvements during the design and construction of the buildings on the next five plots.”

Kevin Ashman - PPM

Since then Cadweb has been used on all Prupim’s major developments including the highly successful £150m refurbishment of the Arndale Shopping Centre in Manchester and now most recently the £120m relocation of the Birmingham Markets project.

Cadweb Ltd was chosen as it was the only vendor to meet all Prupim’s requirements, having a proven its value on previous large-scale commercial developments. The system, Cadweb.net also provided full support for the specific, familiar, industry-standard processes and procedures. This allowed its rapid deployment throughout the projects’ supply chains. In turn this enabled accelerated workflow; greater transparency; improved information quality and punctuality; thus all Prupim projects run on Cadweb have come in on time and buget.

"Project extranets create a great platform for working in a coordinated, controlled environment allowing us to exchange information securely, quickly and easily. This I believe should, in time, improve our working lives.”

John Czernobay - Project Manager, Prudential

Medical Research Council Select Cadweb for the New Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge

Following a rigorous search and quantitative appraisal of the market constituents the decision was taken to standardise on Cadweb.net for the £220m New Laboratory of Molecular Biology project. Cadweb.net was commissioned during the early design and planning stages of the projects. This lasted 2 years and required the system to be flexible enough to accommodate the many phases and changes that took place. Changes to the Information Protocol and the system’s modification to suit these changes required regular consultation between Cadweb Project managers and the MRC. The system proved adaptable enough to accommodate these changes while maintaining the corporate reporting requirements and procedures of the Client.

Cadweb.net’s flexible approach to managing documents and their descriptions meant that it could accommodate the particular needs of each organisation. The construction phase of the project has now started which required further adaptation of Cadweb.net to facilitate the increased level of reporting required during this phase and the inclusion of the Contractor’s supply chain.

Oakmayne Properties agree framework with Cadweb

Cadweb was selected in 2007 as the Enterprise partner for all Oakmayne’s development projects. Cadweb.net would be at the heart of Oakmayne’s strategy to deliver their schemes to the highest environmental and quality levels while at the same time driving forward the most efficient, state of the art management techniques to maximise the efficiency of the scheme’s delivery. After a review of business processes carried out by McBain Cooper, Oakmayne’s Project and development managers, Oakmayne identified that major improvements could be achieved if there was greater transparency and auditing in the exchange of design and construction information. This would deliver improved information quality and delivery times as well as greater consistency across the business.

Financial considerations were a major factor in the selection process as was the speed of system role out and the level of ongoing support, training and consultancy provided. Cadweb Limited was selected after a formal ‘market testing’ exercise was undertaken. Cadweb was able to point to its unequalled track record in the support and training of system users together with its low costs of ownership. The measurable effect that Cadweb.net could show from historic data on project ROCE was also a significant factor in the decision.

Tesco Stores use Cadweb for all their mixed use schemes

Tesco Stores, one of the three largest retailers in the world with sales in excess of £50bn have recently chosen Cadweb.net as their Project Collaboration Extranet for the management of their program of mixed uses developments. Tesco’s realised the need to standardise the process and to increase the transparency and auditability of the vast quantities of design and construction information generated by these complex, multi-phased developments.

The system was required to be able to adapt to the corporate reporting and auditing requirements for the planning/ design / tendering and construction phases of these multi phase/ multi disciplined schemes. Cadwe.net was selected because it was able to demonstrate its unrivalled track record in these high value/ complex projects. While being able to comply with the rigorous regulator and legal environment that the Tesco development team are required to work under; Cadweb.net was also able to accommodate the varying Quality Assurance requirements of multiple organisations involved with the schemes. The system was required to accommodate multiple workflows and internal projects information management systems all of which had to comply with internal Quality Assurance procedures.

By standardising on a project protocol across all the schemes Cadweb.net made the reporting, locating and auditing of key project information a much easier more efficient process. This enabled a far greater level of control to be maintained over the progress, cost, quality and health and Safety issues related to the schemes.
