Cadweb is appointed by Modus on the Newport City Centre scheme

Cadweb Limited are very pleased to announce their appointment by Modus Properties, to provide Project Extranet services on the redevelopment of Newport City Centre.
The development will include retail space, anchored by Debenhams, leisure facilities, residential units, public spaces, cafes and restaurants. Designed by Leslie Jones the architecture integrates into the existing buildings in the Newport City centre.
A total of 388,500 sq. ft of retail including the 105,000 sq. ft department store will be built: 12,500 sq. ft of restaurants: a 6,000 sq. ft health club: a 47,000 sq. ft multi-screen cinema: 137 city centre residential apartments and improved car parking facilities for up to a total of 1,400 cars.
Cadweb have been appointed to provide Cadweb.net, their market leading Project Collaboration Extranet, to manage the huge flows of information that a city centre regeneration project of this complexity will generate. Cadweb has also been appointed to provide all the support, training and technical advice that the successful implementation of such a system involves. In addition the Cadweb.net Tender Portal was used to manage the tender process used to select the project’s main contractor.
“This is a very complicated project, both in terms of its design, but also in its programming and phasing.” Said Chris DeCarlo Operations Director of Cadweb, “The use of Cadweb.net will significantly improve the coordination of information required to be shared by the diverse number of organisations that will be involved in a project of this nature. This has already helped reduce the programmed design time and Cadweb will be used to help bring forward the planned site mobilization date as well.”
