New Version of Cadweb Released
April 2009

Cadweb is pleased to announce the release a new version of its core product Cadweb.net. This next version builds on the previous releases of the system adding additional functional modules while improving the speed, resilience and responsiveness of the system.

The functional enhancements are part of a development roadmap designed to add various enterprise modules to the core system. For example new tendering functionality has been added that improves the seamless transition of the system from the detailed design phase of a project’s lifecycle into the tendering phase. The module then facilitates a seamless transition back to the next phase of the project after the tendering phase is complete.

Another new module permits the efficient management of contractor’s ‘works packages’ during the construction phase of a project. The design and construction phase of a project sees a large increase in the number of participants and the volumes and speed of information exchanged between these participants. Contractors often like to break down the different aspects of the project into ‘Works packages’ each of which is almost a small project in its own right. The design and co-ordination of ‘works package’ information and its various iterations over the life of the project can generate very complicated and varying data workflows, each of which has to be mapped, understood and accommodated by the system. These are often represented by the creation of a ‘Package Matrix’. Cadweb’s new flexible works package module allows this ‘Matrix’ and its resulting workflows to be created and implemented with minimum effort.

The latest module to be introduced is used for the management of CDM (in particular the requirements of CDM07) and Health and Safety information which is required on every project. This module works by setting up the routing of various documents to the key people involved with the particular issue as required by project organisation’s internal QA and project execution plans. This enables the management of all project related CDM information and the Health and Safety File.

Various ‘behind the scene’ upgrades to the capacity and resilience of the system have also been implemented which will add to the speed, capacity and resilience of the system. All these improvements and additions to the system combine to move Cadweb.net onto a new level of service and utility. This is one stage in the development roadmap for Cadwed.net which will see the system move from an efficient file storage and exchange platform into a multi-tasking, multi-modular, enterprise document management extranet.
