Cadweb provides an integrated suite of services to the construction industry:

Cadweb.net

The Cadweb.net e-project management system, is a completely audited, Internet-based project communication, collaboration and information repository. It is entirely designed, written and managed by Cadweb Limited to run on the company's own specialised Internet server cluster. This provides a uniquely secure and robust service trusted by a number of blue-chip companies for their project data and certified by the BSI to ISO27001 and BS10008.

Within Cadweb.net there are a number of services that relate to the particular phase of a built asset’s lifecycle:

  Feasibility:

During the Feasibility phase of a project there is a small team who need to communicate intermittently and in a less structured manner than during later phases of the lifecycle. Because of the modular nature of Cadweb.net and its simplicity the system has been successfully simplified to suit the characteristics of this phase of a project’s lifecycle when sometimes long periods elapse when there is little or no activity.

  Planning:

The submission of a big planning application is rather like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. It requires an intense burst of activity leading up to the application date. Information has to be exchanged very quickly and often in large quantities. This information often gets revised or adapted as more pieces of the jigsaw are added. Again Cadweb.net with its capacity to handle large quantities of information simply and quickly is the ideal tool to manage this process. Its capacity to store the information afterwards makes it a useful repository of the application that can be referred back to when queries to the application are issued.

  Tendering:

Cadweb.net has the built in capacity to handle the security requirements that are vital for the successful execution of the tendering process. This operation typically is carried out over a short defined period of time with a fixed number of participants. Data integrity and security together with the participants’ confidence in these aspects of the system are vital to its successful implementation. Cadweb.net has been successfully used for tendering for 5 years and is currently involved in may multimillion £ tenders.

  Construction:

This phase of a project is the most intense in terms of the volumes of data exchanged. Over the years that Cadweb.net has been used during this phase of a project the volumes have been closely monitored. The average across all Cadweb’s projects is for 8,000 files to be exchanged for every £1m of construction expenditure. With this intensity of data traffic various information tools are employed by the system to enable the information to remain clear and visible. ‘What is the Latest Revision?’ is a key requirement for all users of the system which Cadweb.net answers at the click of a mouse. Also at this phase of the project ‘Packaging’ of information is often a requirement as is the ability to add a ‘Status’ to information during the commenting/revision cycle that much design information is subject to. Cadweb.net provides all these facilities which can be controlled and customised according to the individual need of the project.

  Snagging and Defects Liability:

When a project is finally completed it will enter this phase which is similar to the planning phase in terms of its data exchange characteristics. Information needs to be shared between the various involved parties. However, as there are fewer parties involved and the activity typically drops dramatically the simplicity of Cadweb.net lends its self well to this phase of the project.

  Operations and Maintenance:

This is the longest phase of the building’s lifecycle which lasts for an undefined period. Certain types of data is required to be stored and made available to the appropriate people. The data requirement becomes much more static as for long periods of time little changes quickly. Accessing data becomes the key requirement at this stage. ‘As Built’ information and ‘Operations and Maintenance’ Manuals are the key documents that are required for this phase of the lifecycle.

Cadweb EPIM (Electronic Project Information Management)

Cadweb provides consultancy service to assist project teams to develop effective strategies and protocols for construction information management and electronic exchange. This is integral to the use of Cadweb.net and if used increases the effectiveness of the system many times.

Cadweb Network Consultancy

Cadweb is able to offer technical assistance with user’s network and internet connections so they are able to maintain the appropriate security levels that require while maximising the effectiveness of their existing bandwidth.

Cadweb Standards

For multiple repeat projects Cadweb.net provides the ability to store a library of Standard information which can be disseminated to individual projects as required quickly and easily. This service provides huge efficiency savings as building components can be optimised and reused when there is a similar requirement across multiple sites.

Cadweb CDM Health and Safety

Since the introduction of CDM07 and the ever increasing Health and Safety regulations the management of all information related to these two important areas has become more involved. Cadweb.net is able to provide a rigorous framework for recording and storing all information required for the compliance with these regulations. This allows clients and users to provide comprehensive legally admissible audit trails and workflows throughout a projects lifecycle of all information that may be required to demonstrate compliance with these statutory requirements.
